My War

Thought I would share this blog entitled " My War" which I used to read quite a bit.

It basically chronicles the exploits of an American soldier in Iraq in 2004. Hilarity and sadness ensue throughout as Buzzell fails the drug test to get into the army and is given a detox solution by his recruiter. Lots of interesting comments on wartime policy and the state of things in general.

"About me: I am a 11B Infantry soldier in the United States Army, currently in Mosul Iraq. Our mission: to locate, capture and kill all non compliant forces here in Iraq. So far we've done pretty damn good. I've been here for about 8 months now, and i have no idea how much longer i'm going to be here. My whole outlook on everything has changed since being here, and i've probably aged a great deal over here." -Colby Buzzell

Interesting site, but why are all of his ‘previous posts’ simple cut-and-pastes to “Esquire” magazine issues? He also, for some reason, has his blog ‘inverted’. All of his posts from 2004 appear first, and his recent post are last…

Colby Buzzell is the name of the guy who wrote this blog. He served one year in Iraq in 2004, and turned his opinion into this blog, then magazine articles and a then a book in 2005.

I am not saying that this site is irrelevant, just a bit out-dated and that it is written by a guy who made money on his opinion, not just a regular-joe who happened to speak his mind.

Ah, they took some of the posts out since the publication of his book. Sorry. I should have noticed that.

I guess you could say it is a bit out-dated, but four years is still somewhat contemporary seeing as the war is still an ongoing issue today.

And at the time he was posting to his blog he was just a soldier. But if you've only seen the website-which I admit is a bit glorified-I could see how you would think that.
